Why Farmers Markets?

Pass by the Historic Downtown Laurens Square on a Saturday morning in June, July or August, and you will see your friends and members of the community, local farmers, fresh delicious produce and much more. Why? Because that's when the Farmers Market takes place in Laurens County! Thinking Local about your food has never been so easy.... it's all in one place, on a set day, during set times! There are no excuses and there are no negatives to get out there and buy your agricultural products from local farmers.

Why should I do that, when I can just go get my meats, veggies and honey and more any time I want at the grocery store? Well, you can still do that. But you should also get out and support your local farmers and producers, in turn supporting you community. According to the Farmers Market Coalition, locally-owned retailers, such as farmers markets, return more than three times as much of their sales to the local economy compared to chain competitors. AND people who shop at farmers markets have 15-20 social interactions per visit. Farmers Markets offer so much to our community. As we all begin to show up, show our support and grow the crowd, it will begin to grow as well.

Remember to Think Locally everyday, especially on Saturdays in June, July, or August.
