Laurens County Friend of FFA/4-H Award

Last week at the Clemson Extension Spotlight on Agriculture Dinner, Mickey Sutton was recognized as the Laurens County Friend of FFA/4-H Award. Annette Bodie presented the award and highlighted some of the recipient's accomplishments. We were lucky enough to get a copy and will share some of this information here:

We established this award to recognize members of our community who serve as an integral part of our 4-H and Agriculture Education programs in Laurens County. The previous recipients have been people who spend countless hours and money making sure our programs are successful and this year’s honoree is no different.

When I came to Clinton High School in 2010 I was introduced to Mr. Neil Crisp through the Alexander family. He and his family are the owner operators of Plumfield Farms, which is a beef cattle and broiler operation in Mountville. SC When I met him I quickly realized his passion and love for Agriculture, family, God, and our students... He has served as an advisor assistant for our FFA chapters, sponsored many 4H show pigs, drove FFA and 4 H members to many contest and events, spent many hours helping to mentor students, and was the founding President of the Laurens County Young Farmers and Agribusiness Association. Mr. Crisp serves on many other committees and boards that support the agriculture industry as well. We want to thank him and his wife Ann for all their support for agriculture and youth in our county. Congratulation to Mr. Neil Crisp for being a great Friend of the FFA and 4H.
