2019 Laurens County Youth Livestock Shows

This past weekend, on August 23rd and 24th, over 150 exhibitors and 250 different animals came to the Laurens Exchange Building to be a part of the 2019 Laurens County Youth Livestock Shows. This show is sponsored by the Laurens County 4-H Program and the Laurens County Cattleman’s Association and brings in youth from all across South Carolina and Georgia. The shows started on Friday with the art, dog and beef cattle show. Saturday was the rabbit, dairy cattle, and meat goat show. We had a large draw of community members come out and support the 4-Hers and enjoy the shows, including Laurens County Council members. We are proud to say because of the community support we receive for this show, each class receives awards.

Each year we give two memorial awards at our shows. Morgan Marlett, of Laurens, SC, was the recipient of the Tom Heffner Memorial Award at the beef show, which is given by the Laurens County Cattlemans Association. Katelyn McCarter, of York, SC, was the recipient of the Wesley Robinson Memorial Scholarship at the dairy show, which is given by the Laurens/Greenville 4-H Dairy Club. It is a great honor to award these awards to youth who are caring on their legacy in the livestock industry.
