Last week at the Clemson Extension Spotlight on Agriculture Dinner, Billy Garrett. was recognized as the Outstanding Broiler Producer of the Year. Tim Faulkner presented the award and highlighted some of the recipient's accomplishments. We were lucky enough to get a copy and will share some of this information here:

This gentleman like a lot of us grew up on the family farm and the family has grown several different types of products. May 18, 2000 he got his first flock of chickens and has grown around 90 flocks sense then. He is always at the farm early and stays late to assure everything is done and done right.
He along with his wife, four children and several grandchildren also grow wheat, hay and raise some cattle and in the past have had a roadside vegetable stand. The family is in planning stages of adding additional chicken houses. Last year this farm averaged a 9.47 bird weight on a 1.92 feed conversion which placed them 7th out of 187 farms for Amick farms which puts them in the top 4 %. I would like to say that Laurens County consistently have poultry farms in the top 10%, thank you for showing the world what we can do. This year outstanding Poultry Producer is Billy Garrett.
