Last week at the Clemson Extension Spotlight on Agriculture Dinner, Mickey Sutton was recognized as the M.L. Outz Memorial Outstanding Extension Supporter of the Year. Bryan Smith presented the award and highlighted some of the recipient's accomplishments. We were lucky enough to get a copy and will share some of this information here:

The M.L. Outz Memorial Outstanding Extension Supporter award is given each year in memory of Mr. Marret Outz, the former Laurens County Extension Director that organized the first Spotlight on Agriculture awards banquet back in 1974.
The winner of this year’s award is well known throughout the community, both in agricultural and social circles. He is a man of good reputation and great character, but what has set him apart is his willingness to give himself for the success of both young people and experienced farmers.
He was one of the prime movers in the re-establishment of our Laurens County 4-H Livestock shows, and since that time has worked tirelessly each fall to make sure all the “i’s” are dotted and all the ”t’s” are crossed each year for that event. He comes early, works hard, and stays late until the event is completed and the last head of livestock is on its way home.
He has worked with Clemson Extension in a volunteer capacity for many, many years, supporting many programs and events. He currently works with the Laurens County Cattlemen’s Association, and as a part of that group he visits our office regularly to make sure any correspondence is addressed promptly and any fiscal needs are met equally as quickly. He is quick to offer his help if our office hosts an event, offers a program, or would like to develop something new for Laurens County.
He is a person that can be depended on in any circumstance, which is in itself a rare treasure. Our M.L. Outz Memorial Outstanding Extension supporter award winner this year is Mr. Mickey Sutton.
