AgriTOURISM

When you think about farms, you think about where your food comes from. But have you ever thought... tourism? According to the SC Agritourism Association, agritourism is agriculture based activities that bring people to farms, ranches or other agricultural settings. Some examples include u-pick operations, corn mazes, farm to table dinners, and on-the-farm restaurants with markets that sell locally made foods.

Here in Laurens County, we have several farms to tour, spend the day, u-pick, and plan holiday fun. The SCDA website has a listing of everything these Agritourism farms have to offer! Open to the public, these farms are such a wonderful resource for teaching our community and children about farming and agriculture. Stewart Farms has various seasonal activities including a corn maze and hay-rides in the fall. Red Fern Farm has educational seminars, garden tours and even herb walks. You can visit Abiding Vines Winery and enjoy the picnic area after a tasting. And don't forget how beautiful an event or wedding could be at any of the many event venues offered.
